Band Trip Update

Hello Parents and Students - here is the situation....

Several Seniors and Officers approached me yesterday regarding the trip to Italy. While most of these students are currently signed up for Italy, they requested to have me pursue a “Plan B”, so that more students, perhaps the entire band, could attend. These students should be commended for their willingness to sacrifice what they wanted to do, so that all students could be included.

After speaking with the tour company, and doing an informal poll of the students, there is interest in attending the Citrus Bowl in Orlando Florida. The trip WOULD STILL HAVE TO BE APPROVED BY THE BOARD OF EDUCATION, but the Superintendent has granted me permission to poll the parents and students and obtain feedback to make a decision.

We would need to make a decision by Monday, 9/24/07, as to weather or not we would stay with Italy, or switch to Orlando.

I believe that, we still have enough students to make Italy work, in terms of music and guard, and I’m sure that there will be very few further drop outs that will occur, as the penalty for dropping at this point would be $600/traveler. I am concerned that, if we only have a few more students that would attend Orlando vs Italy, we should continue forward with Italy.

ALL FUNDS PAID TO DATE FOR ITALY WILL BE APPLIED TO ANY CHANGE WE MAKE...

Please remember - this is not a VOTE, but a question...

If there was another option, such as the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, would you attend, and how many additional travelers would go as well?

The Citrus Bowl details:

Dates - 12/27/07-1/3/08

Travel - Coach Busses & Charter Air (Southwest).

Hotel - Orlando/Kissimmee Area.

Itinerary - three performances (Disney, Citrus Competition, Citrus Parade) also - 3-4 Days in Disney, 2 Days Universal, possibly 1 day Sea World - plus all meals.

Cost - approx $1500 (student in Quad room) add ons slightly higher...
